Commissioner JC ADAMS

The Commissioner shall be the official spokesperson for the League and shall be responsible, with the advice and counsel of the Board, for providing supervision, direction, and control of the League’s activities, affairs, and officers.

The Commissioner shall preside at all Board meetings. They shall only be entitled to take part in any vote when the votes of the Directors are equally divided (i.e. a tie). The Commissioner shall have such other powers and duties as the Board of Directors, or the Bylaws may prescribe.

In the event the Commissioner is a captain or member of one of the Association League teams, any dispute or protest arising out of any League-sanctioned basketball game involving the Commissioner’s team shall be resolved by a majority vote of the Board. The decision of the Board shall be binding.

The Commissioner shall also communicate with board members their goals, timelines, and budgets. Communicate with league membership, provide updates to the Board members on the state of events, organize elections for the Board members, and work with the Treasurer to ensure strategic goals are met and budgets are created annually that comport with the goals and missions of the DCGBL.

Director of Players – chris daniel

The Director of Players serves as the main point of contact/liaison between players and the DCGBL Board. They are responsible for maintaining a master contact list of all players past and present for record. They are responsible for handling player recruitment, registration, new and veteran player questions, organizing player combine and bringing player discipline issues to the board, and provide open communication with team captains during the season.

The Director of Sponsorship shall help identify sponsors and partnerships that the league can maintain to collect monies from in support of the league and charity events. They shall also create a tier system for sponsorship partnerships and responsibilities of the league to fulfill as part of that partnership.

They also help organize social functions before, during, and at the conclusion of each season with support of the rest of the DCGBL Board. They develop and conduct an active fundraising program for the League, schedule and supervise fundraising events and activities for DC Gay Basketball League and shall recruit, assist, and schedule volunteers to assist with fundraising activities. They shall coordinate with the Treasurer to ensure fundraising goals are aligned with the DCGBL business plan.

Treasurer – Ken Goff

The Treasurer shall keep and maintain, or cause to be kept and maintained, adequate and correct books and accounts of the League’s properties and transactions. The treasurer shall send or cause to be given to the directors such financial statements and reports as are required to be given by law, by these Bylaws, or by the Board. The books of account shall be open to inspection by any Director at any and all reasonable times. The books of account shall also be open to inspection by any member of record of the DC Gay Basketball Association upon reasonable notice to the Treasurer.

The Treasurer shall keep or cause to be kept a copy of the Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws, and Stated Articles of Incorporation and Stated Bylaws, as amended to date. The Treasurer shall keep the corporate seal in safe custody and shall have such other powers and perform such other duties as the Board or the Bylaws may prescribe.

The Treasurer shall deposit, or cause to be deposited, all money and other valuables in the name and to the credit of the League with such depositories as the Board may designate, shall disburse the League’s funds as the Board may order, shall render to the Commissioner and the Board, when requested, an account of all transactions as treasurer and of the financial condition of the League, and shall have such other powers to perform such other duties as the Board or the Bylaws may prescribe.

The Treasurer will ensure the League is operating in compliance with 501(c)3 rules, manage league finances, file taxes, as well as aid other Board members with ancillary tasks (e.g. previous Treasurers have organized special fundraisers), help ensure that apparel and awards are ordered on time, and that gym facilities and payments to other organizations are paid by due dates.
